It is not uncommon, especially in states or counties where the eviction proceedings are lengthy and expensive. The new owners merely wanted to flip the property and avoid evictions so they kicked in the former owner’s front door and paid him $200 rather than throwing him out on the street.
These guys should go to jail but it all could have been avoided if they merely waited a bit longer and lawfully evicted him… or paid the homeowner, to leaved and deemed the property vacant… or had him leave and sign a quit claim deed.
Hopefully others will learn from these tactics and merely proceed with the protections afforded to them by law.
