The “Take Responsibility for Workers and Families Act” was introduced in the US House by US Rep. Nita Lowey (D, NY) on 5/12/20. You can read that bill here.
Among other things, the bill says that a landlord can’t evict a tenant who doesn’t pay. It also means that the landlord can’t evict a tenant who vandalizes a property, rips out all the appliances, equipment, furnishings and floor coverings or who is threatening to other tenants. Nor can a tenant be evicted for petty crimes. A landlord can only evict if there is a serious criminal act that threatens his or her life or that of other tenants.
